Eggs in a Boat 2.0
Alright, so I have made this once before and decided a second attempt at it was warranted. This time I changed up the recipe a little bit as to include what I had on hand.
Ingredients:
1 loaf French Bread
Shredded Asiago, Gruyere, Quatro Fromaggio Cheese
Parmesan/Romano Cheese
7 Eggs
1/2 cup Scallions, sliced
1 Red Bell Pepper, diced
1 Orange Bell Pepper, diced
Italian Herb Mix
Ground Black Pepper
Sea Salt
I'll skip the normal get your ingredients together picture since we always do that. I'll just get to the good part...the ingredients ready to go pictures! Here's the egg mixture and diced up Bell Peppers and Scallions. Turn your oven to 400 degrees BAKE.
And the loaf of French Bread, where I have the center scooped out somewhat. Make sure not to breach the sides, as the egg mixture will drain out and cause trouble. I accidentally did this on one part so I wrapped it in tin foil. I think I'll do this every time from here on out.
Now I poured the eggs in first.
I added most of the diced Bell Peppers and Scallions. They sink in quite readily.
I topped that with a solid dusting of each cheese. I also added a pinch or two of the Sea Salt and Ground Black Pepper.
Topped with whatever is left over of the diced Bell Peppers and Scallions. Also, add in a few pinches of the Italian Herb Mix.
Now put it in the oven for about 10 minutes. I checked at 10 minutes and then decided to let it bake some more so the eggs were not as runny as the first time I made this. So another 15 minutes. Then I took it out and this is what it looked like.
After giving it a little bit to cool down, I took it out of the tin foil and cut it up to serve. Enjoy.

Eggs in a Boat
Last week I posted on my personal facebook an amazing recipe I had found by perusing the Foodie Blogroll(Check it out!) and decided that I should try to make it. Boy was I smart in making that decision! I did not make the exact recipe I found, however I did make it delicious.
Ingredients:
1 loaf of French Bread/Baguette
Cheese
5 Eggs
5 Garlic Cloves
Basil Leaves
Sea Salt
Pepper
Italian Herb Mix
First get your ingredients together. I have some butter in there, but I ended up not using it. Same for the block of mozzarella cheese.
Make sure your oven is empty and turn it on. Bake @ 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Now start by peeling your Garlic Cloves. I used a Garlic Masher to reduce then to an almost paste. I whisked the 5 Eggs into a smooth consistency and added the Garlic to that. Mix together some.
Now grab your Basil Leaves and shred them or cut them into small pieces. I used about 15 Leaves, mostly large. In the mix they went and stirred together. Make sure it's an even consistency.
Now grab your loaf of bread and cut a V into it from the top. This is where you will be putting your egg mixture so make sure not to create a hole on the side or bottom.
Then add in your mixture. It already looks delicious!
On top of this add a sprinkling of Salt and Pepper. Add as much as you want to, it's you who'll be eating it after all!
Now I added the first of the three cheeses I used. Blue Cheese. A nice start since it is so very tasty.
Then Asiago Cheese and a Parmesan/Romano mix generally used for salads.
Then some Italian Herb Mix on top.
Now, into the oven.
I had a sheet of non-stick cooking paper under it, but then read the tube it came in and saw 'not for conventional ovens' so out that came.
It should be in there for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the cheese topping turns a golden brown.
Then you take it out and serve. Enjoy.

Sourdough Pizza Snackers 2.0
So in my way of improving on recipes, I decided some snacks were needed yesterday for I was quite famished. What do all red blooded men like besides steak, sports, booze? PIZZA!
I recalled that the snackers before were prone to a little sogginess if not done perfectly in the Microwave, so I made sure my oven was ready for some use.
Over is ready and eager.
I took out a cooking tin and turned the oven to BROIL at 450 degrees. Then I placed several slices of sourdough bread on the tin.
I grabbed my jar of tomato sauce, and proceeded to spoon out the sauce onto the bread slices and spread it evenly.
Now, I love cheese. Who doesn't other than lactose intolerant people? Well I mixed shredded asiago, quattro fromagio(4 cheese blend), gruyere, and monterey jack on top.
On top of all that, I added a healthy dose of garlic salt and crushed basil.
By this time the oven is ready, it will probably DING!!! at you. Make sure you have your proper oven mits to handle the oven/hot tray after the food is done cooking.
Place the sheet on the middle or top rack and pay careful attention after they've been on for a few minutes so you can pull them out when they are cooked to your specific standards. I think mine took between 5 and 10 minutes to be done. Then just use a spatula to take the snackers off the HOT metal tin and place on a plate to serve.

Sourdough Pizza Snackers
Alright, so in addition to the previous post of Capresi Skewers, I decided that Pizza would be a great snack as well. So I searched through my kitchen and found several things that could make this happen. Ingredients: Sourdough Bread Loaf (pre-sliced) Shredded Cheese Tomato Sauce Spice mix of basil, sage, oregano, & thyme With this you can choose any sauce/cheese you would like, so I went with Asiago shredded cheese and generic heart smart tomato sauce. This recipe is a simple one anyone could do, and it is so tasty! Take a plate, put three slices of the Sourdough Bread on there. Cover the bread slices with Tomato Sauce, but not so much as to touch the edges of it since that can result in one big tasty mess. On top of that I sprinkled the spice mix on, which in turn was covered by the shredded Asiago cheese. At this stage you could choose to put it in the oven or even cook it up on a skillet, however I went with the device known as a Microwave. Yes, I love microwaves. They make some recipes so much easier. I put the plate in there for approximately 3 minutes, or until the cheese melts thoroughly. Then take out, let sit for about a minute so it's not too hot, then enjoy!
